How to register to vote in the State of Florida

Some people may not realize that you need to register first before you can vote in the State of Florida. To sign up to vote in Florida, you will need to follow these guidelines:
First, determine if you are able to vote in Florida. A person:
Must be a US citizen, Must be a resident of the State of Florida, Must be at least 18 years old(pre-registration to vote is allowed if you are 16 years old), Must NOT be judged as mentally incapacitated, Must NOT have been convicted of a felony without your civil rights having been restored, Must provide a valid current Florida drivers license or ID card, or Must provide the last four digits of your SSN if you do not have a Florida drivers license or ID card. In lieu of these items you must check the box indicated on the registration form as NONE.
When you are eligible, you will next need to complete a Florida voter registration application. Complete the Voter Registration Application. Fill out all fields. Print the application out. Make sure all information on your application is provided. Where you register, your SSN, Drivers licence number and ID card number stay confidential and also are used just for registration purposes. Sign the application. Your original signature is required because you are swearing or affirming to an oath. Mail your application on to the county Supervisor of Elections. You can opt to mail or deliver by hand your application to any Supervisor of Elections office in the state, the DMV, a registration agency, an armed forces government agency, or the Division of Elections office.
Lots of people inquire if they need to find a florida notary public to notarize the application. As of the date of this article, notarizing is not needed. If this is a new registration application in Florida, the date the finished application is postmarked or hand brought to a drivers license office, a voter registration company, an armed forces recruitment office, the Division of Elections, or the office of any supervisor of elections in the state will be your registration date. You need to be registered for at least twenty nine days before you can vote in an election. If the application is complete and you are qualified as a voter, a voter information card shall be mailed to you. Be sure to diligently review the application. If the data you provide isn’t correct, you can be convicted of a felony of the third degree and fined as much as$ 5, 000 and/or imprisoned for up to 5yrs.
